Ear, nose and throat, by video

Online ENT specialist consultation in Nigeria, by private video call

Much of ENT care starts with the story: how long, how often, what helps. An ENT specialist can go through it with you on a call, look at your throat on camera, and tell you what needs examining in person.

The short answer

Mezo Health lets you see a registered ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist by private video call from anywhere in Nigeria, with their own fee shown before you pay. Video suits sinus problems, catarrh, sore throats that keep coming back, tinnitus and deciding whether you or your child needs an operation. Looking inside the ear needs an examination. Difficulty breathing or swallowing needs a hospital now.

Go to a hospital now if you have

Call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department now. Do not wait for a video call.

  • Difficulty breathing, or noisy, high-pitched breathing
  • Difficulty swallowing your own saliva or opening your mouth, with a severe sore throat on one side
  • A nosebleed that has not stopped after 10 to 15 minutes of pressure, or a heavy one after an injury
  • Swelling, redness or pain around the eye, or double vision, with sinusitis
  • A severe headache with a stiff neck or fever after an ear or sinus infection

Be seen in person today if you

These are not emergencies, but need prompt help. An ENT specialist on video can tell you where to go.

  • Suddenly lose hearing in one or both ears
  • Have new weakness or drooping on one side of the face
  • Have an object stuck in the ear or nose, especially a child or a button battery

What video handles well

  • Blocked nose, catarrh and sinus pain that will not clear
  • Allergic rhinitis: sneezing, a runny nose and itchy eyes most of the year
  • Sore throats and tonsillitis that keep coming back, for adults and children
  • Snoring, and a child who snores or breathes through the mouth
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus) and dizziness
  • Deciding whether tonsils, adenoids, grommets or sinus surgery are needed
  • Going through scan and hearing test reports, and a second opinion on surgery

What video cannot do

  • Looking inside the ear or nose with an instrument, and removing ear wax or anything stuck in the ear or nose
  • Hearing tests and scans, which are done at a centre: the report comes back to the call
  • A lump in the neck that needs to be felt and sampled
  • Emergencies of any kind: see the warning signs below

How it works

  1. 1

Choose an ENT specialist and a time

Pick an ENT specialist below and a free slot on their diary, and choose a video consultation. Their fee is shown before you pay.

  2. 2

Pay online and get a private link

You pay securely on Mezo. The video room opens once payment is confirmed, in the browser on your phone or laptop.

  3. 3

Talk it through and leave with a plan

The ENT specialist goes through your symptoms and any reports and agrees a plan: treatment, a hearing test or scan, or an examination in person when the ear or nose needs to be looked inside.

Have these ready

  • How long the problem has lasted, and how often it comes back
  • For a child: how many sore throats or ear infections this year, and any snoring or pauses in breathing at night
  • Scan or hearing test reports, as photos
  • Every medicine and nasal spray you use, including any bought over the counter

Questions people ask

How much is an ENT consultation in Nigeria?

Each ENT specialist sets their own video fee, shown on their button before you pay. The lowest on Mezo right now is ₦15,000. Medicines and tests are separate, and each is priced before you pay for it.

Can an ENT doctor treat me online?

Often, yes. Sinus problems, catarrh, recurring sore throats, tinnitus and decisions about surgery can be handled on a video call. An ear that needs looking inside, or wax that needs removing, needs a visit in person, and the specialist will say so.

Can an ENT specialist decide if my child needs their tonsils or adenoids out?

A video call is a good first step: the specialist asks how often your child is unwell, about snoring and sleep, and looks at the throat on camera. Surgery is planned after an examination in person.

Do I need a referral to see a ENT specialist on Mezo?

No. You can book a ENT specialist directly. If another doctor has written to you or done tests, bring the letter and results as photos.

Can the ENT specialist prescribe and order tests?

Yes, when it is right for you. A prescription is written on Mezo and can go to a partner pharmacy, where you pay on Mezo and collect it with a pickup code or have it delivered where the pharmacy delivers. Tests are ordered at a partner laboratory and priced from its own list before you pay.

What if the ENT specialist says I need to be seen in person?

They tell you what examination, scan or procedure you need, how soon, and where. You can book it through Mezo, or ask for a call back and a care coordinator arranges it.

Something feels seriously wrong right now. What do I do?

Call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department now. Do not wait for a video call.
