Twelve weeks to bring them home whole
Residential treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. Medically supervised detox, a psychiatrist-led team, daily therapy, and a family that is part of the work, in a nineteen-bed centre in Lekki. Clinical care and faith, together.

What makes the difference
Most families in Nigeria are left choosing between a psychiatric ward and a prayer camp. This is neither. It is a clinical programme, run to international protocols, in a house built for recovery.
Doctors, not just a programme
A Medical Director on site every day, a consultant psychiatrist each week, and nurses around the clock through detox.
The family is part of the treatment
Family therapy is built into every tier, with written progress reports, so you are never guessing where things stand.
Device-free, by design
No phones or laptops in residence. The old contacts and the old patterns stay outside, and family contact runs through the programme.
Discreet from the first call
Our texts never name the service. Nothing goes to an employer, a school or an HMO, and residents are never named or photographed.
Twelve weeks, four phases
Each phase has its own goals and its own review, and you are told where your loved one is at every step.
- Phase 1 · Weeks 1 to 2
Medical stabilisation
Supervised detox with nursing around the clock. Sleep, nutrition and vital signs brought back under control.
For the family: A welcome call within 72 hours. Visiting opens from week 2.
- Phase 2 · Weeks 3 to 6
Therapeutic foundation
Group CBT and relapse prevention, one-to-one counselling, life skills. A full team review in week 4.
For the family: First family therapy session by week 4, and a written treatment report.
- Phase 3 · Weeks 7 to 10
Deepening and skills
Trauma and family-systems work, vocational planning, and a personal relapse prevention plan.
For the family: Day and weekend passes become possible, earned on conduct.
- Phase 4 · Weeks 11 to 12
Reintegration
Pre-discharge assessment, an aftercare plan, graduation and enrolment in the alumni programme.
For the family: A pre-discharge family meeting and a confirmed first-year aftercare schedule.
The fees, published in full
Both rooms get exactly the same medicine: the same doctors, the same protocols, the same nursing. What changes is privacy, and how often one-to-one sessions happen.

From first call to first day
- 1
Talk to us, in confidence
Leave a number below. An admissions coordinator calls back within one working day and listens before asking for anything.
- 2
Self-assessment
Your coordinator sends you a private link to a short structured form: substance history, health, family context, and how ready your loved one is. About fifteen minutes, and free.
- 3
Deposit and clinical assessment
Once the admissions team has reviewed the self-assessment, your coordinator sends a private link to pay the deposit securely on Mezo. It unlocks a psychiatrist's assessment within 7 to 14 days, and a written decision within five working days, with a referral if residential care is not the right fit.
- 4
Pastoral interview
A conversation with the chaplaincy team, with your loved one and the family together. Clinical and pastoral clearance together allocate the bed.
- 5
Admission
The held part of the deposit goes against month one. The balance is settled before admission day, and phase one begins.
The ₦1,100,000 deposit, line by line
Clinical assessment
Psychiatrist consultation, diagnostics, team review and a written decision.
Held toward month one
Reserves the bed and goes against the first month's fee on admission.
- Change your mind within 48 hours of paying and the whole deposit comes back.
- If the clinical team decides residential care is not the right fit, the held part comes back in full, with a referral to the right place.
- If no bed opens within 6 months, the held part comes back in full.
- If you withdraw while waiting for a bed, the held part comes back in full.
- After those 48 hours, the assessment part pays for clinical work booked on your behalf and is not refundable.
Invited, never asked up front: your coordinator sends a private link once the admissions team has reviewed the self-assessment, and you pay securely on Mezo. Your bank statement shows Paystack and Consult for Africa.
When residential care is not the right place
These need an acute psychiatric setting first. If this sounds like your situation, still get in touch: we will help you find the right place.
- Active psychosis, including drug-induced psychosis
- Severe risk of harm to self or others
- A current need for antipsychotic medication
- Severe cognitive impairment
- Court-ordered or detained admissions
The hardest part is the first call. Let us make it easy.
Leave a number and an admissions coordinator calls you back within one working day. You do not need to have the answers yet. We will listen first, explain the options, and tell you honestly whether residential care is the right step.
What families ask us first
My son will not admit he has a problem. Can you still help?
Residential admission needs the person's own consent, because treatment done to someone rarely holds. But an unwilling person is not a closed door. There is an outpatient route, with a psychiatrist, a psychologist and family therapy, that works with people who are not ready yet, and with the family while they wait. Leave a number and we will tell you honestly which route fits.
Is it really confidential?
Yes. The text we send you never names the service. We do not contact employers, HMOs, schools or other relatives. Residents are never named or photographed in anything we publish.
What does it cost in total?
A three-month programme is ₦9,240,000 on Premium or ₦14,850,000 on Signature. That covers accommodation, meals, detox, the medical and psychiatric team, all therapy and aftercare planning. It can be paid month by month. There is no hidden fee at the door.
How does the deposit work?
You never pay a deposit up front. After the first call and the free self-assessment, the admissions team reviews your answers. If residential care looks right, your coordinator sends you a private payment link for ₦1,100,000, paid securely on Mezo by card, bank transfer or USSD. ₦440,000 pays for the psychiatrist's assessment, diagnostics and a written decision. The other ₦660,000 is held and goes against month one when your loved one is admitted. Change your mind within 48 hours of paying and the whole deposit comes back. If the clinical team decides residential care is not the right fit, the held part comes back in full, with a referral to the right place. If no bed opens within 6 months, the held part comes back in full. If you withdraw while waiting for a bed, the held part comes back in full. Your bank statement shows Paystack and Consult for Africa.
Which drugs do you treat?
Alcohol, cannabis, tramadol and codeine, cocaine, methamphetamine and other substances, including more than one at once. The psychiatrist's assessment confirms the diagnosis and the detox plan.
Is it a Christian programme?
Yes. House of Refuge integrates faith with clinical care: chaplaincy and chapel sit alongside psychiatry, CBT and 12-step work. The clinical standard is the same WHO and UNODC framework used by secular centres. A pastoral interview is part of admission.
Can we visit?
Visiting opens from week 2, on Sundays. Day and weekend passes become possible later in the programme, earned on conduct. Family therapy sessions run throughout.
We live abroad. Can we arrange this from London or Houston?
Yes. Many families do. The admissions coordinator works with you by phone and WhatsApp across time zones, and nobody needs to fly home for the first steps.
What happens after twelve weeks?
Every resident leaves with a written aftercare and relapse prevention plan, and joins the alumni programme. Where the team judges it necessary, the programme can be extended to six months at the same monthly rate. It is recommended, never sold.
