How We Verify Every Doctor
Every doctor on Mezo undergoes automated MDCN verification before they can accept bookings. Our dual-verification system checks both the uploaded licence document and the MDCN public register to ensure every specialist is legitimately licensed to practise in Nigeria.
Step 1: Doctor Submits MDCN Licence
The doctor uploads their current MDCN practising licence (PDF or photo) and enters their folio number during registration.
Step 2: Automated Document Analysis
Our OCR system extracts the folio number, doctor name, and registration year from the uploaded document. We compare these against what the doctor entered.
Step 3: MDCN Register Cross-Check
We query the MDCN public register in real-time to verify the folio number is valid, the licence is current (not lapsed/suspended), and the name matches.
Step 4: Confidence Scoring
Our system calculates a confidence score (0-100%) based on: document-to-form folio match, MDCN API confirmation, and name cross-reference. Scores above 70% are auto-verified.
Step 5: Verification Decision
High-confidence matches are verified instantly. Lower-confidence results are queued for manual review by our compliance team within 48 hours.
Step 6: Ongoing Monitoring
We re-check MDCN status periodically and monitor for disciplinary actions. Licences expiring on December 31st trigger renewal reminders at 90, 60, 30, and 7 days before expiry.
