Hepatitis B test

The hepatitis B test looks for the surface antigen, which shows a current infection. It can take up to twelve weeks after a risk to turn positive. A negative result is a good moment to get vaccinated.

This test is sold inside the screens below, one price paid online, with a doctor who gives you the result.

What a result means

Negative: no current infection. If you are not vaccinated, ask about the vaccine, which protects for life.

Positive: a doctor reviews it with liver tests and a viral load to see whether treatment is needed. Many people live well with it under monitoring, and partners and family should be tested and vaccinated.
