Getting started on Mezo as a doctor

GPs, specialists and dentists registered with the MDCN, including doctors who run their own practice.

  1. 1

Sign up, or claim the profile we opened for you

Sign up with your email, specialty and MDCN folio number. Choosing your specialty sets the regulator, so the number field asks for the right registration.

If you received an email inviting you to claim your profile, use that link instead. It lasts 30 days, confirms your email for you and keeps any details we already hold. Signing in or resetting a password on an unclaimed profile sends the link again.

  2. 2

    Upload your practising licence

Upload a clear photo or scan of your current MDCN licence. We read it and check it against the MDCN register. A clean match verifies you straight away; anything unclear goes to our team to check by hand.

Verification runs to 31 December, the date MDCN licences expire. Renew it each January from CPD & licence, where you can also track your credit units.

  3. 3

    Finish the eight onboarding steps

The dashboard opens once all eight are done: account, licence, credentials (fellowships, subspecialties and the practitioner agreement), indemnity, pricing, bank account, profile and schedule.

    • Your MDCN licence, and any fellowship certificates
    • Your medical indemnity policy and its expiry date
    • Your in-person and video consult fees
    • The bank account you want paid into, in your own name
    • A short bio and a professional photo
    • The days and hours you will see patients
  4. 4

    Go live

Your profile appears in the directory as soon as every item below is true. We check again each time you save, so there is nothing to submit.

    • All eight onboarding steps finished
    • Licence verified and in date
    • Email address confirmed
    • Doctor services agreement signed
    • An in-person or video fee set
    • At least one block of hours saved
  5. 5

    Make yourself bookable

Patients can only book hours that are real. Hours with no facility are video hours. For in-person hours, open Facilities, ask for access to the site where you practise, and add hours there once the site approves you. A request that is still pending cannot take hours.

Set a fee for each kind of consult you offer. A video slot with no video fee cannot be booked.

  6. 6

See patients and complete each visit

New bookings arrive in Bookings and by email. Video consults run in the consult room inside Mezo; you can write notes, prescribe, order tests and refer from there.

After the appointment time, mark the booking complete. That is what pays you for a cash consult, settles the facility's share and asks the patient for a review. HMO consults are paid when the claim settles.

  7. 7

    Get paid

You set your own fees. Mezo's fee comes out of your side and is lower when the patient came through your own link. Billing shows your earnings and your balance.

Your balance stays in your Mezo wallet until you request a withdrawal. The account name must match your name at the bank, and after you change bank details withdrawals pause for 24 hours.

  8. 8

    Grow your own list

Your personal link and business card send patients straight to your profile, and patients who come that way cost you a lower fee. Find them, with a share kit, under My practice.

MDCN-verified doctors can opt in to GP work at Mezo rates and, with video hours, a verified bank account, current indemnity and the Mezo GP terms signed, join the Your GP list that members choose from.

If you run your own practice, Bring your practice sets it up on Mezo under one contract.

Questions people ask

I signed up but I am not in the directory. Why?
One of the go-live items is missing. The most common are an unconfirmed email, a licence still being checked, the services agreement unsigned, or no hours saved.
Do I need a facility to start?
No. Video hours need no facility, so you can take paid video consults as soon as you are live.
When am I paid?
A cash consult is credited to your wallet when you mark it complete, and you withdraw to your bank whenever you like.
I am a physiotherapist, pharmacist or other clinician. Is this guide for me?
Mostly. Read the guide for allied clinicians, which covers the differences in verification, titles and what you can order.
