Questions people ask
Is online therapy as good as seeing someone in person?
For anxiety, low mood, stress and relationship problems, therapy by video works as well as therapy in a room for most people, and it removes the travel and the waiting room.
What is the difference between a therapist and a psychiatrist?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can diagnose and prescribe. A therapist or counsellor helps through talking. At Calmsprings a psychiatrist sees you first, so the course you get fits what is actually going on.
How long does therapy take?
Each Calmsprings course has a set length agreed at the start, and your progress is measured at the beginning and the end with the same short questionnaires.
Can I do couples or marriage counselling online?
Yes. One of you books, and sends the other a private link to join the same session from wherever they are.
Can I pay for therapy for someone else?
Yes. You can gift a session: they get a code by email and choose the care themselves. We never tell you what it was used for.
What if I am in crisis right now?
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, go to the nearest emergency department or call 112. To talk to someone now, call the SURPIN suicide prevention helpline on 0800 078 7746 (free, 24 hours). Calmsprings does not provide emergency care.
