How it fits around your life abroad

  1. 1

Video consultation from where you live

Both partners, with a fertility consultant, at a time that works in your time zone. Send any results you already have.

  2. 2

Tests near home, or on arrival

Recent scans and blood tests from your own clinic are reviewed rather than repeated. Anything missing can be done in one morning in Lagos.

  3. 3

Your written all-in quote, and your dates

Protocol, drugs, laboratory and transfer, priced line by line, with the dates you need to be in Nigeria. Nothing is paid until you agree it.

  4. 4

    About two weeks in Lagos

Monitoring scans, egg collection under sedation, and the transfer. The exact days are confirmed at the consultation, and they can sit around a visit home you already planned.

  5. 5

Fly home, and we stay with you

The pregnancy test can be done where you live. Results come back to the same team, and frozen embryos stay stored safely for a later trip.

From the UK: it is about access and time

NHS IVF depends on where you live, often has age and other limits, and frequently funds one cycle or none. For a woman in her late thirties, a long wait costs more than money. Coming home lets you start when you are ready, with a consultant who knows the context of your family.

From the US: it is about price

A single cycle in the United States commonly runs to many thousands of dollars before drugs, and cover depends on your state and employer. In Lagos the whole cycle, drugs included, is a fraction of that, quoted in writing before you book a flight.

Book a video consultation

Leave your number with the country code. A fertility coordinator replies within one working day, at a time that suits your time zone, usually on WhatsApp.

Questions people ask

How long do we need to be in Nigeria?

Usually about two weeks, around egg collection and transfer. The consultation and much of the preparation happen by video before you travel. If you freeze embryos, a later transfer is a much shorter second trip.

What happens if I become unwell after I fly home?

The main risk is ovarian hyperstimulation, which can appear several days after egg collection. You are watched for it on every scan, the fertility centre sits inside a hospital that can admit you, and you leave with written instructions and a direct line to the team.

Why not just do IVF in the UK?

Many couples do, and should. The reasons people come home are access and time: NHS funding depends on where you live, often has age and other limits, and frequently covers one cycle or none, with waits before treatment starts. Private UK clinics commonly quote several thousand pounds per cycle before drugs. The HFEA publishes clear guidance worth reading either way.

And from the US?

For couples in the United States the case is mostly price. A single IVF cycle there commonly runs to many thousands of dollars before drugs, and insurance cover depends on the state and the employer.

Can family in Nigeria be part of it?

Only as far as you want them to be. Everything is confidential, and we speak only to the people you name.

How do we compare clinics honestly?

Ask every clinic for an all-in written quote that says whether drugs, ICSI and embryo freezing are inside it, and for live births per cycle started, by age band, from its own records. Be wary of one headline success rate for everyone.
