I am currently a Professor of Psychiatry in Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, Nigeria and a Consultant Psychiatrist with Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki Nigeria. I have over 15 years teaching, clinical and administrative experience in both the university and teaching hospital I have taught Nursing, Psychology and medical students undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have also been an examiner in National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria; for training of resident doctors in Psychiatry. I have also supervised and trained many resident doctors who are now consultants. I have held administrative positions as Head of Department in both the university and Teaching hospital, in addition to being a chief resident during my training, capping it up as Medical Director of a Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital. I have extensive experience in clinical setting both in teaching hospital and stand-alone psychiatric facilities. I have experience in Child and adolescent psychiatry. I have also worked in units of consultation liaison, general adult psychiatry, community psychiatry etc. I have also been actively involved in promotion of mental health and education in our country where mental illness is still been stigmatised. I have over 57 peer-reviewed academic publications in international and local journals with many in the area of Child and adolescent Psychiatry. I have also 32 academic presentations in conferences cutting across countries. My research interests cut across general adult psychiatry, consultation liaison, affective disorders, alcohol use disorders, behavioural addictions, dementia, psychopharmacology including child and adolescent psychiatry
