The short answer
You can test for STIs in Lagos without a clinic visit. A nurse in plain clothes takes the sample at your home, the payment shows a company name rather than a clinic, nothing in your text messages names the test, and a doctor gives you the result. You do not need an account, and nothing goes to your HMO, employer or family.
Essential STI screen, ₦49,500Medically reviewed by Dr Debo Odulana, Founder and Chief Executive, Mezo. Last reviewed . This page is general information, not a diagnosis. Care is decided with you after an examination.
What keeps it private
On Mezo's Discree service:
- No account: you book with a name and a phone number
- A nurse in plain clothes with an unmarked bag, at a time you choose
- Texts that carry a reference and never name a test
- A bank statement line that names the company Mezo sits under, not a clinic or a test
- Results given by a doctor, never by text, and a call the same day if anything needs treating
Which test to choose
The Essential screen covers HIV, hepatitis B and C and syphilis. The Complete screen adds gonorrhoea and chlamydia by PCR, the most accurate test for both. If you have symptoms, talk to a doctor first, because symptoms need the test chosen for them and often treatment the same day.
If the risk was in the last 72 hours, do not book a test first. Go to a hospital emergency department or an HIV clinic today and ask for PEP.
Common questions
Will my partner find out?
Not from us. We contact only the phone you book with, and the doctor will talk through how to tell a partner if you need to.
Can I test if I live outside Lagos?
Home collection is in Lagos. Walk-in testing at partner labs in other cities is being added; until then, a private consult by video works anywhere in Nigeria.
Is it cheaper at a clinic?
Some walk-in clinics charge less for blood tests alone. Discree's price includes collection at home, the doctor giving you the result, and a call if anything needs treating.
