IVF, In Vitro Fertilisation at Mezo Health in Lagos, Nigeria is priced in a written quote after a ₦52,800 consultation, because the right operation and its cost depend on what the surgeon finds. The quote covers monitoring scans and blood tests through stimulation, egg collection under sedation, and embryo culture and the transfer. Prices last checked 11 October 2026.
Eggs are collected, fertilised in the laboratory and an embryo is placed in the womb. Most published IVF prices in Lagos leave the fertility drugs out, which can add N400,000 to N1,000,000 to the cycle. Your written quote here includes them, so the number you agree is the number you pay.

How the price is set
Written quote after consultation
IVF consultation, both partners: ₦52,800
A cycle is priced for your protocol, which depends on her age, egg reserve and the reason for IVF. You receive one written all-in quote, drugs included, before anything is paid. Bring any previous results and we will not repeat them without reason.
What your written quote covers
- Monitoring scans and blood tests through stimulation
- Egg collection under sedation
- Fertilisation in the laboratory, by ICSI where it is advised
- Embryo culture and the transfer
- The fertility drugs for your protocol, named and priced in the quote
- The pregnancy test and the first scan
Not in the quote
- Fertility drugs, which are prescribed and priced in writing before you start
- Embryo freezing and storage after the first year, priced separately
- Genetic testing of embryos (PGT), only where it is clinically advised
- Admission if a complication needs it, which is quoted before any decision
What decides your quote
- A change of protocol midway because the ovaries respond more or less than expected
- Freezing extra embryos, priced in the quote so you can choose
- Donor eggs or donor sperm, a separate programme with its own quote
IVF is excluded by almost every Nigerian HMO plan. Some employers fund it directly; the desk can invoice your employer if yours does.
Is it right for you
Who this is for
A good fit
- Blocked or damaged fallopian tubes
- Low sperm count or poor sperm movement, usually with ICSI
- Low egg reserve, or a woman in her late thirties or forties who does not want to lose time
- Unexplained infertility after simpler treatment has not worked
- Couples who want to freeze embryos for later
When it is not the right answer
- Couples who have not had a fertility check yet, because a simpler fix is often missed
- Fibroids distorting the womb cavity, which are usually removed first
- Anyone with uncontrolled diabetes, high blood pressure or thyroid disease, until that is treated

- 3
Stimulation, about ten to twelve days
Daily injections at home, with a scan every two or three days to watch the follicles grow.
- 4
Egg collection
A short procedure under sedation, about twenty minutes. You go home the same day.
- 5
Fertilisation and embryo culture
Three to five days in the laboratory. You are told how many embryos are developing.
- 6
Embryo transfer
A painless procedure, like a smear test. Extra good embryos can be frozen.
- 7
Pregnancy test, then the first scan
About two weeks after transfer, then a scan to see the heartbeat. Antenatal care can continue in the same hospital.
Afterwards
Recovery, realistically
Collection day
Rest for the day. Cramping and bloating are normal.
The two week wait
Normal life, without heavy exercise. Most women work throughout.
If it does not work
A review of what happened and what would change, before any decision about another cycle or a frozen transfer.
Risks you should be told about
- Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, where the ovaries over-respond. It is watched for on every scan, and the partner fertility centre sits inside a hospital that can admit you
- Multiple pregnancy if more than one embryo is transferred, which carries real risks for mother and babies
- A cycle that is cancelled or does not produce a pregnancy
- Bleeding or infection after egg collection, both uncommon
Every operation carries risk. A surgeon who lists none is not being straight with you. Yours will go through these with you before you consent.

How much does IVF cost in Nigeria?
Published Lagos prices for one cycle sit roughly between N1,800,000 and N3,500,000, with premium centres higher. The best-known Lagos centre publishes N2,900,000 for an own-egg cycle with ICSI, excluding drugs. Drugs commonly add N400,000 to N1,000,000. Always compare all-in prices, and ask in writing whether drugs, ICSI and freezing are inside the number.
What is the success rate?
It depends above all on the woman's age and egg reserve. Be wary of any clinic quoting one headline figure for everyone. Ask for live births per cycle started, by age band, from the clinic's own records.
How many embryos will be transferred?
Usually one or two, decided with you. Transferring more raises the chance of twins or triplets, which carry real risks for mother and babies.
Is ICSI extra?
ICSI is often needed when the sperm count or movement is low. Your quote states whether it is included. Ask the same question of any clinic you compare.
We live abroad. How long do we need in Lagos?
Usually about two weeks around egg collection and transfer, and early monitoring can often be started at home. Your dates are confirmed at the consultation. See IVF from abroad.
