Questions about Calm Mind
Read first: Anxiety and Panic Attacks · Mental Health: When to See a Psychiatrist
What treatment works for anxiety and panic attacks?
Cognitive behavioural therapy is the first-line treatment for panic and generalised anxiety. A psychiatrist can also tell you whether medicine would help, and prescribe it safely.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually an assessment and 8 to 10 sessions. Your progress is checked with the GAD-7 questionnaire along the way.
Are panic attacks dangerous?
A panic attack feels frightening but is not dangerous in itself. If you have chest pain or trouble breathing for the first time, get checked by a doctor the same day.
