Lipid profile test price in Nigeria
A full lipid profile costs ₦24,000 on Mezo, paid online and done at a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site. It measures total cholesterol, HDL ('good') cholesterol and triglycerides, and from those the laboratory works out your LDL and non-HDL cholesterol. Doctors use it to judge your risk of heart attack and stroke.

What the test is for
High cholesterol has no symptoms, so the only way to know is a blood test. NICE uses the full lipid profile, with your blood pressure, diabetes status and kidney function, to decide whether you would benefit from a statin and to see whether treatment is working.
When a doctor asks for it
- A heart and stroke risk check in adults, especially from your 40s
- High blood pressure, diabetes or kidney disease
- A parent, brother or sister who had heart disease young, or very high cholesterol in the family
- Before starting a statin, and again after starting to see whether it is working
How to prepare
- The network laboratory asks you to fast for 8 to 12 hours before a lipid profile, drinking only water. NICE does not require fasting for a cholesterol test, but triglycerides rise after a meal, and the laboratory reads your sample against its fasting range.
- Take your usual medicines unless your doctor has told you otherwise.

In Lagos: a sample taken at home
In Lagos a nurse or phlebotomist can take your blood sample at home and bring it to the laboratory. It is booked and paid for online, with the price for your area shown before you pay. Home collection is only in Lagos for now.

How to book
- Tap Book. The lipid profile is already ticked; add anything else on your request form.
- Choose your city and a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site that does every test you ticked.
- Pay once, online, by card or bank transfer. You get a code for the counter.
- Go to the site with your code. When the result is released, you read it on Mezo.

Do I need to fast for a cholesterol test?
Fast for 8 to 12 hours, water only, because that is what the laboratory asks. If you have eaten, tell the desk: NICE does not require fasting for a cholesterol test, and the laboratory can tell you whether to go ahead.
Can I pay at the lab?
No. You tick the test on Mezo, choose a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site that does it and pay online before you go. The price you pay is the price on this page, and the site has your order waiting when you arrive.
How do I get my result?
When the laboratory has checked and released your result, we send you a text message and you read it on Mezo, signed in to your account. If a doctor on Mezo asked for the test, they see it too. Mezo does not promise a result time on this page, because it depends on the test and the site.
