Thyroid function test price in Nigeria
A thyroid function test (T3, T4 and TSH) costs ₦50,000 on Mezo, paid online and done at a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site. It measures TSH, the hormone the pituitary gland uses to drive the thyroid, and the thyroid hormones T3 and T4. For many adults, NICE suggests starting with TSH alone (₦20,000) and adding T4, and T3 where needed, only when the TSH is outside the normal range.

What the test is for
An underactive thyroid usually shows as a high TSH with a low T4. An overactive thyroid usually shows as a low TSH with a high T3 or T4. What counts as normal depends on your age and the laboratory's method, so a doctor reads the result against the range printed on the report.
When a doctor asks for it
- Symptoms such as tiredness, weight change, feeling unusually cold or hot, a racing heart or a swelling in the neck
- Type 1 diabetes or another autoimmune condition, or a newly found irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation)
- Depression or unexplained anxiety, where the doctor wants to rule out the thyroid
- On thyroid treatment, to check the dose is right
How to prepare
- No fasting.
- NICE advises against testing during an acute illness unless the illness may be caused by the thyroid, because being acutely unwell can change the result.

How much is a thyroid test in Nigeria?
On Mezo the full thyroid function test (T3, T4 and TSH) is ₦50,000, and TSH alone is ₦20,000. Both are paid online and done at a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site.
Do I need the full panel or just TSH?
For many adults a doctor starts with TSH alone, then adds T4 and T3 if it is abnormal. If you have pituitary disease, or you are already on thyroid treatment, the doctor may want more from the start.
Can I pay at the lab?
No. You tick the test on Mezo, choose a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site that does it and pay online before you go. The price you pay is the price on this page, and the site has your order waiting when you arrive.
How do I get my result?
When the laboratory has checked and released your result, we send you a text message and you read it on Mezo, signed in to your account. If a doctor on Mezo asked for the test, they see it too. Mezo does not promise a result time on this page, because it depends on the test and the site.
