The short answer
The price of a root canal in Lagos depends mainly on which tooth it is: a front tooth has one canal, a molar three or four, so a molar costs more. An X-ray, the final filling and, on a back tooth, a crown are often priced separately. What changes the price
Ask what is included before you agree. These are the things that move the total.
- Which tooth: front, premolar or molar
- Whether the X-rays before and after are included
- The number of visits, especially if the infection needs dressing more than once
- The final restoration: a filling, a post and core, or a crown
- Whether the tooth has had a root canal before, which makes retreatment harder
Root canal or extraction?
Taking the tooth out costs less on the day. But a gap may later need a bridge, a denture or an implant, and replacing a tooth can cost more than saving it. Keeping your own tooth is usually better for chewing and for the teeth around it. The dentist explains both options with prices.

A written price for the root canal on the named tooth, what it includes, the price of the crown if one is advised, and what would change the price. At Mezo you are given that before any treatment starts.
Common questions
Why does a molar root canal cost more?
A molar has more canals, often curved and narrow, so it takes longer and needs more materials.
Do I need a crown after a root canal?
Usually on a back tooth, because a root-filled back tooth is more likely to crack. A front tooth often needs only a filling. The dentist advises on your tooth.
Is a cheaper root canal worth it?
Ask what is included and who does it. A root canal that is not cleaned and sealed properly can fail, and retreatment costs more than doing it well the first time.
