Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) in Lagos
Excess upper eyelid skin is removed, or the bags under the eyes are repositioned or removed, through incisions hidden in the eyelid crease or inside the lower lid. Where the real problem is a brow that has dropped, a brow lift is the better answer, and that is offered too.

- Dark circles caused by pigment, very common on darker skin, which surgery does not remove
- Untreated dry eye, which needs treating first

Thirty minutes with the surgeon herself, by video. You bring your goals, your history and photographs; she tells you what is involved, what she would and would not do, and whether you should be doing anything at all.

An in-person examination in Lagos, then a written quote that says what is included and what is not. Costings come from the team in writing, not from the surgeon in the room.

Dry eye and eyelid muscle strength are checked before surgery, because both change the plan.

Often under local anaesthetic with sedation, as a day case.

Risks you should be told about
- Dry or irritated eyes, usually temporary
- Difficulty closing the eyes fully for a while
- Asymmetry
- The lower lid pulling down, after lower lid surgery
- Very rarely, bleeding behind the eye affecting vision, which is why you are watched before going home

Will it remove my dark circles?
Not if they come from pigment, which is common on darker skin. Surgery treats bags and loose skin. The consultation separates the two.
Brow lift or eyelid surgery?
If the brow has dropped, removing eyelid skin alone can pull the brow lower. Lifting the brow is then the better operation. She offers several brow lift techniques, chosen for your hairline.
