Thirty minutes with the surgeon herself, by video. You bring your goals, your history and photographs; she tells you what is involved, what she would and would not do, and whether you should be doing anything at all.

An in-person examination in Lagos, then a written quote that says what is included and what is not. Costings come from the team in writing, not from the surgeon in the room.

Earlobe repair under local anaesthetic, in well under an hour. Ear pinning under local for adults or general for children.

Stitches out in about a week, then follow-up.
Recovery, realistically
Week 1
Earlobe repair: little discomfort. Ear pinning: a head dressing for the first days, then a headband.
Weeks 2 to 6
A headband at night after ear pinning, to protect the shape while it sets.
Later
The earlobe is re-pierced only once fully healed, and away from the scar.
Risks you should be told about
- Keloid, a particular risk on the ear and on darker skin
- Asymmetry, or some return of prominence
- Infection or a blood collection
- Stitches that work their way to the surface

Usually from about five or six, when the ear is nearly adult size and the child can manage the headband and aftercare.
Can I wear earrings again?
Yes, once the repair has fully healed and with the hole placed away from the scar. Heavy earrings are what split it the first time.
I form keloids. Is ear surgery safe for me?
It needs more care. Tell the surgeon at the consultation; the keloid plan comes first.
