Chemical peels in Lagos
A chemical peel is a solution applied to the skin that lifts the outer layers so that newer, more even skin comes through. On darker skin the choice of peel matters more than anything else: the right one evens out dark marks, and the wrong one, or one applied too strongly, can leave new ones. Peels at Lyfe Plastics & Dermatology are chosen and set for Nigerian skin, usually as a course.

What would change this price
- How many peels your course needs
- Whether a medical facial is used between peels
Who this is for
- Dark marks left behind after acne, spots, bites or ingrown hairs
- Uneven skin tone, or dull, rough skin
- Melasma, as one part of a plan that includes daily sun protection, because it tends to come back
- Mild acne and blocked pores
When it is not the right answer
- Deep peels on darker skin, which carry a high risk of lasting light or dark patches
- Cold sores, eczema, infection or broken skin in the area
- Isotretinoin (Roaccutane) taken in the last six months
- Dark patches caused by bleaching creams, which need a different plan. Say so at the consultation; it changes what is safe
- Pitted acne scars, which respond better to microneedling than to a peel
The pathway, step by step
- 1
Aesthetic consultation₦100,000
With the practice's registered clinicians, at the clinic in Lekki. Your skin, what you have used on it, and what you want, then a plan with prices.
- 2
Preparing the skin
Often a few weeks of prescribed creams and daily sunscreen first. On darker skin this lowers the risk of dark marks after the peel.
- 3
The peel₦200,000
About half an hour. The solution tingles or stings for a few minutes and is then removed or left to work, depending on the peel.
- 4
The course and review
Peels are usually repeated a few weeks apart, with a review of how your skin has responded before each one.
What happens afterwards
Days 1 to 3
Tightness and some redness, which shows less on darker skin.
Days 3 to 7
Flaking or peeling. Leave it to come away on its own: picking leaves marks.
Afterwards
Strict daily sunscreen. Results build over the course rather than after one peel.
Risks and limits you should know
- New dark marks (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation), the main risk on darker skin and the reason the peel is chosen with care
- Light patches, less common, and usually from a peel that was too strong
- Blistering or a burn
- A flare of cold sores in people who get them
- Infection, and rarely scarring
Every treatment has limits and side effects. Yours are explained before you start, and you can always say no.
Questions people ask
How much is a chemical peel in Lagos?
At Lyfe Plastics & Dermatology a chemical peel is ₦200,000, and a medical facial is ₦150,000. Most people need a course, and the number is agreed, with its total, at the consultation.
Are chemical peels safe for dark skin?
Yes, when the right peel is chosen and applied at the right strength, with the skin prepared beforehand and protected afterwards. The risk is new dark marks, and that is what the choice of peel is managing.
Will a peel lighten my skin?
No. It evens out marks and patches towards your own natural tone. It is not skin lightening.
Peel or microneedling for acne?
Flat dark marks left by acne respond to peels. Pitted or rolling scars, where the skin surface is dented, respond better to microneedling. Many people have both, and the consultation tells you which.
