Chest X-ray price in Nigeria
A chest X-ray costs ₦14,400 on Mezo for one view, or ₦17,200 for two views, paid online and done at a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site. It takes a picture of the lungs, heart and ribs with a small dose of radiation, and helps a doctor look for the cause of a long cough, breathlessness or chest pain.

What it is for
An X-ray uses a small amount of radiation and serious problems are rare. A doctor weighs the small risk against what the picture will show. If you are, or might be, pregnant, tell the radiographer before the X-ray.
A chest X-ray can show signs of a chest infection, fluid or other changes, but it does not confirm tuberculosis on its own. The WHO recommends rapid diagnostic tests, usually on a sputum sample, as the first test for TB.
When a doctor asks for it
- A cough that has gone on for three weeks or more
- Breathlessness, or chest pain on breathing or coughing
- A chest infection that is not getting better
How to prepare
- Remove jewellery and anything metal around the chest; you may be given a gown.
- Tell the radiographer if you are, or might be, pregnant.
Go to the nearest emergency department now, not a lab, for
- Struggling to breathe, or blue, grey or blotchy lips or skin
- Coughing up blood
- Sudden confusion
Where you can do it

Done at the site, not at home
A chest X-ray is booked at a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site and done there, on the site's own machine. It is not collected at home: home collection on Mezo is for blood samples only. Call the site before you go to ask how to prepare and when to come; its number is on its city page.
How to book

- Pay once, online, by card or bank transfer. You get a code for the counter.
- Call the site to ask when to come, then go with your code. When the report is released, you read it on Mezo.

Is a chest X-ray safe?
It uses a small amount of radiation and serious problems are rare. Tell the radiographer if you might be pregnant.
Can a chest X-ray show TB?
It can show changes that make a doctor think of TB, but TB is confirmed with a test on a sample such as sputum. Our tuberculosis guide explains where to get tested.
Can I pay at the lab?
No. You tick the test on Mezo, choose a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site that does it and pay online before you go. The price you pay is the price on this page, and the site has your order waiting when you arrive.
How do I get my result?
When the laboratory has checked and released your result, we send you a text message and you read it on Mezo, signed in to your account. If a doctor on Mezo asked for the test, they see it too. Mezo does not promise a result time on this page, because it depends on the test and the site.
