A scrotal ultrasound scan costs ₦20,000 on Mezo, paid online and done at a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site. It looks at the testicles and the tubes and veins around them, and is how a doctor checks a lump or swelling, such as a build-up of fluid or swollen veins (a varicocele). Sudden, severe pain in a testicle is an emergency, not a scan booking.

What it is for
Most lumps and swellings in the scrotum are not serious, but some are, including testicular cancer, so any lump, swelling or change in shape should be examined by a doctor. An ultrasound is the scan a doctor usually sends you for after the examination.
In a man being checked for infertility, a scan can show a varicocele. Whether treating one would help is a question for a urologist, and the man's first fertility test is a semen analysis, which is ₦21,000 on Mezo.

Go to the nearest emergency department now, not a lab, for
- Sudden, severe pain in a testicle, or testicle pain with feeling sick or tummy pain: the testicle may have twisted. Do not wait for a scan.

Done at the site, not at home

Can a scrotal scan show infertility?
It can show a varicocele or other changes, but it cannot measure fertility. A semen analysis (₦21,000) does that, and a doctor reads the two together.
Can I pay at the lab?
No. You tick the test on Mezo, choose a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site that does it and pay online before you go. The price you pay is the price on this page, and the site has your order waiting when you arrive.
How do I get my result?
When the laboratory has checked and released your result, we send you a text message and you read it on Mezo, signed in to your account. If a doctor on Mezo asked for the test, they see it too. Mezo does not promise a result time on this page, because it depends on the test and the site.
