Stool test price in Nigeria
A stool test (stool microscopy, culture and sensitivity, or stool M/C/S) costs ₦15,000 on Mezo, paid online and done at a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site. The laboratory looks at the sample under a microscope for worms, their eggs and other parasites, and grows it to find germs that cause diarrhoea and the antibiotics that work against them. Stool microscopy alone is ₦14,000.

What the test is for
Most diarrhoea comes from an infection in contaminated food or water. The main danger is dehydration, which oral rehydration solution (ORS) prevents. A stool test helps when diarrhoea goes on, has blood in it, or keeps coming back.
This test does not look for H. pylori, the stomach germ behind many ulcers. That is a different test, not on Mezo's laboratory list yet, so a doctor arranges it. And for suspected typhoid, the test a doctor asks for first is a blood culture (₦22,000), taken before any antibiotic.
A test for hidden blood in the stool (₦14,000) is also on the list. It does not replace a colonoscopy when a doctor suspects a bowel problem.
When a doctor asks for it
- Diarrhoea that has lasted more than 7 days
- Blood or mucus in the stool
- Worms seen in the stool
- Tummy pain with diarrhoea that keeps coming back
How to prepare
- Collect the stool into the clean pot the site gives you, without urine or toilet water in it.
- Take it to the site as soon as you can after collecting it; ask the site how quickly it must arrive.
Go to the nearest emergency department now, not a lab, for
- Vomiting blood, or vomit that looks like coffee grounds
- A sudden, severe tummy pain
- Confusion, or a child who is very drowsy, not drinking or not passing urine

How much is a stool test in Nigeria?
On Mezo a stool M/C/S is ₦15,000, stool microscopy alone ₦14,000 and a test for hidden blood ₦14,000. All are paid online and done at a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site.
Does a stool test check for typhoid?
The test a doctor asks for first in suspected typhoid is a blood culture (₦22,000), taken before any antibiotic. Book the stool test as well only if the doctor asks for it.
Does a stool test check for H. pylori?
Not this one. H. pylori is found with its own breath, stool or blood test, which is not on Mezo's laboratory list yet. A doctor by video can arrange it.
Can I pay at the lab?
No. You tick the test on Mezo, choose a BeaconHealth Diagnostics site that does it and pay online before you go. The price you pay is the price on this page, and the site has your order waiting when you arrive.
How do I get my result?
When the laboratory has checked and released your result, we send you a text message and you read it on Mezo, signed in to your account. If a doctor on Mezo asked for the test, they see it too. Mezo does not promise a result time on this page, because it depends on the test and the site.
