What the test is for
LH and FSH are made by the pituitary gland and tell the testicles to make testosterone and sperm. A low testosterone with a high LH and FSH points to the testicles; a low testosterone with low or normal LH and FSH points to the pituitary, and a raised prolactin can be the reason.
The sample is taken in the morning, fasting, because testosterone is highest then. A single low testosterone is repeated before any diagnosis.

Do I need a hormone test or a semen analysis first?
For fertility, the semen analysis. Hormones are usually checked when it is abnormal, or when there are signs of low testosterone.

How do I get my result?
When the laboratory has checked and released your result, we send you a text message and you read it on Mezo, signed in to your account. If a doctor on Mezo asked for the test, they see it too. Mezo does not promise a result time on this page, because it depends on the test and the site.
